So in the rare moment that i find myself being able to sit and surf the net as my daughter is quietly snoozing, i find myself staring at her and wondering "How did i get here??". It's not a bad thing for me to think this, i think it's because i used to look back on the past and think...really carrie? What were you thinking? or i wish could change that. But i see now that all roads pointed here. I went down the road of "the wrong guy" numerous times till i found the right one and i couldn't imagine my life without him. Especially now that i look at Kylie snoozing in her car seat; i see both her daddy and myself in her and think that is the greatest thing.
At Target today, a little old man stopped to peer in at Kylie. He asked the normal questions...how old? Boy or girl?(She was wearing pink today...lots of it) I gave hm a break on the boy or girl question cuz he was so nice and such a sweatheart. Then he looked at me and said..."I have three girls, the time went by really fast. So you make sure to hug her everyday and enjoy your time with your husband and duaghter as a family." Then he actually patted my hand and walked away. I almost started crying in Target! So i think that is my reasoning for my afternoon contemplation...i guess i just took a moment to "stop and smell the roses"

Three Weeks
Grandpa Atkinson was here this past weekend. I'm glad he got to sit with her for a while, with him living in Florida, we never know when he'll get to see her again.
Favorite baby item?
Johnson's Bed Time Bath wash and lotion. Kylie passes out and sleeps pretty good once we rub her down with the lotion or after sh gets a bath!! Love it!!!

This past weekend - Hockey and 1st bath
This past weekend Derek had a hockey tournement in Bloomington. He had one game friday night(Kylie and I didn't go, it was too late in the evening) which they won. Then Saturday Kylie and I went to BOTH games that daddy had. They won both and went on to the championship game on Sunday. But we didn't go to Sunday's game, we were both pooped!
Here is daddy playing in the first game.
Kylie at the second game! See the cute hat Derek's co-worker made? I love it!!
Then Sunday we were visited by Kevin, Wendy and their son Blake, and Mike and Michon. It was great to see all of them. After all the fun this weekend, we decided to give Kylie her first bath. She actually wasn't too sure what was going on, but she didn't cry.
Here she is coming out of the warm towel.
What are you doing to me??

Hanging out
So Kylie and Mom have just been hanging out. Daddy went back to work and mom is trying to figure out our "schedule" so i know when i can do things during the day. She's a great baby! She wakes up every three hours at night to feed, So we feed her at 9:30/10 and she goes to bed. Then we're up again about 12:30/1, 4:00 and 7:00. Today after her 7:00 feeding she went back to bed and slept till 10:45...needless to say mommy liked sleeping till 10 this morning and getting some stuff done before she woke up. I must say it is a bit difficult to priorize things when she's sleeping...do i do the dishes or shower...eat or pump? But it is my first week home alone, so i guess things will just come to me as i go.
Here is Miss Kylie enjoying some sleepy time in her swing.

Kylie Noel's Birth Story
So we went in on Thursday for the gels to ripe my cervix, and after being hooked up on the monitor for a while they said they didn't need to that i was having contractions and they didn't want to over do things. So they sent me home with instructions to call for induction in the AM.
Frida
y i called Labor and Delivery and they said come on in. So we got there about 7:15am. They got me all set-up with the IV, pitocin, checked my cervix(1 1/2 cm still), and after a few mins on the Pit i started feeling the contractions...although not painful. Then at about 5pm things were starting to get kinda painful(not sure how anyone could do this all without pain meds) so they checked again and I was 4 1/2cm...felt like everything was going so slowly! So we ordered the Epidural...which i didn't even feel happen, but was awesome!! At first it only numbed the right side and only a bit a on the left. So they pushed a bolus and had me lay on my left side since an epidural works by gravity. About 8pm my nurse wanted me to start rolling over every half hour to kinda help the cervix along, so they rolled me to the right...i was still 4 1/2cm.
9PM!! I was feeling lots of pressure and kept leaking fluid, i could feel the foley cat
heter with each contraction...my nurse was funny...she smile huge and said...Let's check you again! Sure enough i jumped from 4 1/2 cm to 9cm in an HOUR! She stepped out to call my doctor, then the hard work began! I pushed for 1 1/2 hours! It was the strangest feeling! I kept focusing on what felt like me poopin, and the fact that it felt like her head was coming out towards my leg. Derek was great! He kept me focused and counted for me, helped hold my leg for the pushing...even got me refoucused when i started freakng out about not being able to do it.
10:36pm Friday September 4th, Kylie Noel Atkinson was born. She looks alot like her daddy! Took a bit to get the placenta to come out, and they had to stitch me since i tore, but i got to hold her while they did everything. 7lbs 5oz 19 1/2 inches long.
