Cabin it up!!

So this was my Birthday weekend! I turned the dreaded 31! Goodness i don't feel that old!!! It's hard to imagine that every year now it will be one step closer to 40 than 20!

Derek was a sweetheart and rented a cabin for the weekend. My parents came on Friday night and Aaron and Maggien stayed on Saturday night. We were celebrating her birthday too! It was alot of fun and very relaxing. Taquito got to swim in the lake, although he is quite a pansy about jumping off the dock. He would got back and forth between each side whining, looking for a good plce to jump, then run back down the dock and into the water. The cabin is actually for sale, how fun would that be? But alas, it's a pipe dream for now. It's a cute little cabin, one bedroom, a loft, bathroom and kitchen. It's on a little over an acre of land about an hour and a half out of the cities. Hopefully the guy doesn't sell it and we can go up there over the 4th of July!!

How we're progressing with the baby:

Your pregnancy: 27 weeks

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

26 Weeks and 5 days

So i am a little behind on the baby updates. This week i am at 26 weeks. Have been having some major braxton hicks contractions. Which are not painful, just very uncomfortable. They seem to happen more when i am walking around. So i am increasing my water intake and we'll see if they slow down. I got my results back from my gestational diabetes test from last Thursday. Looks like i passed with flying colors! If i was over 140, i would have had to do a three hour test. But my results came back at 102! So my next appt is June 18. After that i go to every two weeks! The time is coming quick!

How your baby's growing:

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

Birthday present long time coming

So last year i told Derek for his birthday that i was getting him a new grill. I told him to go pick one out and he kept dragging his feet. So this year i told him for his birthday he's getting a new grill nd he needs to go pick one out. He finally was looking for one seriously. Our new gas grill all hooked up on the deck. It's still natural gas, so we'll have to anchor it to the deck even though the wheels lock. Baby proof and well...Brent proof it.

So here it is!

Misc Monday

So today i came home early for work, wasn't feeling well. Still don't feel 100%, and I'm not sure if it's pregnancy related, but i don't feel like I'm coming down with a cold or anything. I just kinda feel like i did at the beginning of the pregnancy. Except now i feel puffy...so i drank lots of water, ook a nap and went to dinner with Candace and Mandee to help give ideas with my baby shower. We got the date, food, games...but now i am out of it.

So now i am just sitting here feeling a bit nauseated, wondering if 8pm is too early to go to bed. I love being pregnant! But you do get pretty tired pretty much all the time! And when you don't feel well, it hits you! It's...i gotta lay down NOW!

So Saturday my mom and I went shopping...just to Target, and i was looking for some sheers for the baby's room(i already have the valance. Instead, i found some really pretty pink panels in the same faux silk as the valance. I really like it! Derek's not a huge fan of all the pink!! :)

Then one of Derek's co-workers gave us a big bag of baby clothes! Alot of very cute stuff!! Quite a bit of wintery 3-6 months which will come in handy, since Squish will be 3 months at christmas. That was very nice of them! So now i will have to wash stuff and hang things up! But for right now they are all hanging off the crib and the dresser.

25 weeks

Your pregnancy: 25 weeks
See the big picture
How your baby's growing Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

24 Weeks

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Getting there, little bit more to do

So we were busy this weekend. Well, it sure seemed like it. Derek had a golf tournament on Saturday and i went to a garage sale for baby clothes and then to Costco, where i found a couple more cute little outfits. Then we went to a Twins game which ended at 10:00 because it went into extra innings, and we still lost!!

Then Sunday i went to Babies R Us to finish registering and i bought the crib mattress while Derek put the crib together. Apparently it's easier then we though. It's a really nice sturdy crib. Then we ran to Menards to get electrical hardware...new plugs and a dimmer switch for the new light we bought! So now we can keep the lights fairly low in the baby's room. It's pretty neat! So then we moved the dresser in to see how it will all work in there. We still have to paint the dresser white, so it looks a little odd with it being creamy yellow. Here are some pictures.

The old shelves back where they belong.

23 Weeks

Your pregnancy: 23 weeks

How your baby's growing:
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.
