22 Weeks

So this weekend is a busy weekend. Friday Derek and I went to Babies R us to start our registry. We started out the night going to dinner at Pittsburgh Blue in Maple Grove. We normally wouldn't eat there, but we know the manager, so we stopped in to say hi. Their food is really good! We had two apps(Ahi Tuna Tartare and Crab cakes) and CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! OMG!! It was so so so good!! The place is a bit pricey, but a really special treat for a night out on the town. The we went to register. Derek was a trooper! I think he actually had fun, more so than when we registered for our wedding. We still have somethings we need to put on there. Completely forgot about onesies and a few other things. So we'll go back in about a week to finish it up. I decided to just use Babies R us because of their return policy and selection. Target just doesn't have enough there.

Now today we have a wedding to go to of our friends Roxanne and Jason. Derek used to work with them at Upsher Smith. Then tomorrow, (Hopefully) my brother will be home for a visit from Iraq, and I go meet up with the ladies for the March of Dimes walk. Which unfortunately I will not be walking this year. The pelvic pain I will have for the next 2 - 3 days is not worth the four miles, even my doctor thinks so. But thank you to everyone who donated, and I plan to get on my horse next year! With an extra walker! :) So I plan on going to Michaels and buyng acrylic paints and finishing the baby's room! But right now I have to go finish getting ready for this wedding.

Here is our weekly update!

Your pregnancy: 22 weeks
See the big picture
How your baby's growing:

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Baby's room

Since we found out the baby is a girl, we have picked out the bedding. Which then inspired the paint in the room. For those who have yet to see the baby bedding. Here is what was picked out.

So we just finished painting! We have the border complete, just a few touch ups are needed. Here are they before and after pictures.

The main color is hard to see, it's light pink with dark pink and gray accents.

Finished product..with a close up

The only thing i really have left that i want to do...Ladies who remember my bedroom when i was younger?? I love painting fun stuff on the walls! So i bought the wall decals to match the bedding and i think i am going to paint some different sized gray and dark pink circles in one corner of the room to accent the decals. So we're getting there. I also have to decide if i want to paint the shelves we have in there which are a natural wood color. So for now we're good, we'll be setting up the crib in a few weeks and finish off the room!

Week 21

So this week we found out what we're having. I'll post my ultra sound pictures in a few days. We didn't get a money shot picture printed out, but we did get to see her girlie parts on the monitor!! It's a girl!! So i am now today painting the baby's room. Don't worry, lots of ventilation and i am taking breaks in between walls.

I am still having severe butt cheek pain. It really hurts and sometimes when it flares up i cannot roll over in bed. So Derek is a trooper and has to help me! We went to the Twins game this past Tuesday, where Derek felt her move for the first time. She was squrimin around something fierce so i grabbed Derek hand and he had this look on his face and then said..."Are you sure you don't have gas?" Lol! I told him i was sure. Her movements are getting alot stronger as she grows. Well, i have to get back to painting. Here is where we are at!

How your baby's growing:

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Week 20

So today is Easter, We are heading over to my parents house for family fun time and dinner of cheesey potatoes and ham! Yummy! Yesterday we went to Mike and Candace's house for dinner and to meet thier newst little one Joshua. That was a lot of fun!! Plus it was nice to get to sit and talk with my girlfriend. Since they moved out to BFE(Aka Mayer, MN), we don't get to see them as much as i would like. So we had girl talk about babies and some of her experiences. I got some good advise about the breast pump i am buying(she has the same one) and we are now(or at least i am thinking this) probably going to have to look for another freezer! I saw how much breast milk Candace had, and it was a two week supply. It was enough to fill the bottom of their kitchen freezer and that's just the remainders of after feeding Josh!! Quite impressive!

So week 20 brings no more morning sickness...i think i am safe to say i am in the clear. We have three days and we get to find out wht we are having. I am so so excited!!!

Here is my weekly update! HAPPY EASTER!

How your baby's growing:

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Our Crib Purchase

Our crib is a lifetime crib, we thought this would be a good investment. A crib that will grow with the child...and i just realized we never ordered the rails to make it a full sized, so i'll have to go do that. You have to get those special ordered...why don't they ask you that when you're standing there? Then when we go pick it up, we'll get the mattress and bedding since by the time it comes in we should know what we're having!

I am so excited! So next week we'll have to shampoo the carpet in the office and get ready to paint!

Here is the crib! At first we were going to go with black, but then Derek suggested white, and we liked this one, so we went with this!

We decided on white because we have a dresser we're going to use...however it's yellow. So Mom/dad if your reading this...i have a project for you!!! Since you guys have done it before, i need this dresser stripped and painted white!! :) If it's a girl, we'll paint the flowers to stand out, if it's a boy, we will leave it all white. It's just the right height to put a changing pad on there and that will be our changing table as well.

19 Weeks

So today we are going crib shopping!! Very excited!! Maybe now it'll start to set in more that we really do have a little one on the way. I have been feeling lots of little flutter movements, especially durin the day. Not so much keeping me up at night. So maybe this means a baby that sleeps through the night? Guess only time will tell. We go in on April 15th for our ultrasound...so get your guesses ready!!! Will Squish be a boy or girl?

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Here is my week 19 belly photo. My hand is over my stomach, and the baby bump is right below that. Since everything gets smooshed upwards, I look bigger up front than I really am. Plus that fact that I have a little extra cushion on me, which I will work on removing once squish gets here.
My girlfriend Candace had her baby a week ago!! Very excited to see him as soon as this cold goes away completely! His name is Joshua and weighed 7lbs. He looks more like his dad I think. Congrats Mike, Candace and Megan!!!

The hole in our front yard...

Well, sort of hole. They filled it back up, but here is the aftermath of our broken sewer pipe!

Beautiful landscaping huh?
