My Birthday

So I have turned 32, it's really just an age, I really don't feel this old! :) So for my birthday we went down and hung out with family who had flown in from Chi-town. Kylie went to my parents house for the night! So it was a grand evening! Derek treated me to Fogo De Chao, very nice! We got there and we were seated at a nice table. The waiter took our drink orders, then another waiter brought us water, and promptly spilt a full tray of water glasses all over himself and our feet. The manager came and moved us to another table and we went about our night. Man is that food good!! I have never eaten so much beef before! It was AWESOME! Then the manager came over and apologized again and gave us a free lunch for two! So we get to go BACK!
Then we went to the Twins game. Derek got my birthday announced on the scoreboard, I had a few beers, and then a night of un-interrupted sleep!! That was probably the best gift EVER!

New Landscaping

So we decided to use this past weekend to up date the frontyard and backyard. It was in dire need of a face lift. We also were able to get our path lights that we got as wedding gifts out and working. Looks SO much better. I bet the neighbors are thanking us!

Swimming

We used to have a pool for Taquito to play in.  But it has seen cracked, so we bought a smaller pool for Kylie to play in. She LOVES bath time, so we figured that would transfer to an outdoor pool nicely, and we were right!  It's splash time!!!

Nice "Egg"citing day!

I was being nice and decided to boil some eggs for Derek for his breakfasts, which i have done numerous times before.  Apparently i was very forgetful today and as i was sitting downstairs heard a loud BANG!...figuring the cat got into somehing i ran up stairs to find smoke(smoke detector didn't go off...yet we can't put a pizza in the oven without it blaring?) and egg particles all over the foor(Taquito got those before i could snap a picture).
Just so you know...there were 6 eggs to start with...then there were four...

Even on the CEILING!!!!  Quite proud of that feat!  :)

March of Dimes Walk

So Kylie and I walked in the March for Babies walk on April 25th.  It was fun, cold but fun! We walked an area of Minneapolis i really didn't know about.  It was beautful! We walked starting from Boom Island, and i'm not even sure of the area.  But we walked behind the Mill City Museum, i think that's what it was called. Here are some fun pictures!!

EEKK!! My Baby!!!

HAS A TOOTH!!!  Holy moley!  I know we have had some crappy nights of sleep lately, and i have seen these little white guys hanging out just under her gums. But tonight she laughed and something looked different in there.  So i stuck my finger in her mouth...yup, there is a nice sharp little toofer in there! It's her right front tooth, so now we're just waiting on the left one to poke through and hopefully that will bring better nights sleep!
I would try to get a picture, but everytime i try to push her bottom lip down, out comes her tongue.  So we'll have to wait till it's more noticable to get a good pic.

My squishie gal gave me some great gummy smiles!! Oh they just melt my heart!!! She is getting so big! She can now sit up unsupported and she's eating homemade foods. We boil chicken and puree it up and she LOVES it! We also do squash, carrots, sweet potatos, apples and pears.

Basement remodel

We have been working on remodeling our basement for the past few months.  Here is the fruits of all our hard labor!

Not sure where she learned this...could it be because i constantly blow raspberries at her so she's repeating? hehehe!  I'm actually pretty sure she got this from me.  So it's really cool to see her learning new things.  So i guess this means i need to be careful of what i do in front of her. She actually started this tonight during dinner.
The video starts with a shot of Taquito, again i wasn't sure if the red flashing light on the camera would make her stop.  You can also hear her in the background blowin a raspberry.

Babbling

Kylie has been babbling quite a bit lately.  Her latest is soft and quiet. I started recording and i was afraid if i showed her the camera she would stop.  But she kept on going.

That time of year again!

Our team is walking for the March of Dimes again this year in memory of our friend Carey. I miss her so very much and think about her all the time! 
This year it looks like we're off to Boom Island! It's a four mile walk on April 25th. I am very excited to be walking for a great organization. But I need your help.  This year i have decided to push myself an try to get $500 in donatations.  This will be hard because i am not working outside the home. MMMM...Cereal!

So i was pretty set on not starting solids till Kylie turned 6mos.  But when my doc gave the go ahead, i just couldn't resist seeing how she would like them.  We started on rice, it's not her favorite...as you can see.

So we did rice for a week, she really doesn't like the rice. But she eats it.  So tonight we tried the oatmeal, and man i couldn't shovel it in fast enough!! So i do believe she really likes the oatmeal better. We will be doing oatmeal for a few days and then we're trying some PEAS!!  Oh boy!  I'll make sure to snap a few pictures of that mess!

I'm a Big Girl!

SO lately Kylie has wanted to sit up, not on your lap(at least not mommy's), but on the couch.  She fusses if she's on my lap.  So we put her on the couch with her boppy pillow around her.  Look who's getting to be a BIG girl!!

She also likes to sit up on the floor, we're doing good on sitting up, but still not sure on the rolling over!

Hopefully she will start taking to tummy time a little more and we'll get this rolling over stuff outta the way!

Hair today, gone tomorrow

So i really needed a hair cut.  I haven't cut it in almost a year and a half.  Actually it could be longer than that. I never seem to find a stylist or salon that i really like.  So i had this huge rat nest head of hair that i really only ever wear it up in a hair clip or pony tail...it's thick, wild and sometimes unruly!

So today it was tamed in a very nice cute by Sophie. She did an AWESOME job!! Both her and the staff were extremely nice, so i have found a salon and a stylist!

I love this cut! 

4 Month Check-up

Kylie is growing like a weed! Although height wise, she'll be a small weed! She is in the 75th percentile for height, almost 50th percentile in weight and head circumference is 75th percentile.
So here is what we have since birth...

She also got a three more vaccinations and did really well.  Cried for a split second when the second needle went in, but clamped down on her woobie and sucked like crazy! Mama also got a vaccination, i finally got my H1N1 shot. I didn't cry either!!!
Kylie is currently relaxing on her boppy pillow next to mama, passed out in her jammies.

Old Fashioned Bottle Week

So Monday was the beginning of a wonderous week of old fashioned fun! It started out with an email to Derek.
Me: The buttons on the microwave don't work, the light is on inside, but the buttons don't work.
Derek: Is it plugged in?
Me:  How would the light come on if it wasn't plugged in? Now it's dead, no light, no clock.
Derek: Is it plugged in?
Me: YES!  It's plugged in.
Derek: Guess we need a new microwave.


So since we figured that out, we went looking and found a really nice microwave. But then found another problem...the microwave we had was shorter(how is that possible?  It's like 20 years old!!) so in order to LEGALLY install the new microwave we needed to replace the cabinet above it to make room. So Derek went out and got a new cabinet, stained it and then we realized...the rest of the cabinets probably just had a coat of poly on them because they are alot more yellow.  So now we...and i actually mean I, get to strip/sand the old ones down and restain them to match the new cabinet.

So all week we have been boiling water to heat up Kylie's bottles.  Bottle service was pretty darn slow at the Atkinson household this week. Any hoo, as of yesterday bottle service is back on track...looks pretty nice don't cha think?

P.S.  I am super excited to say we now have a working fan and a LIGHT over the stove!  I am amazed at the things that excite me now a days versus when i was younger.
