18 Weeks

Ok I know i said i would do a couple belly pics, but i have been sick and Derek is out of town. So as soon as he's back we'll get some up here. But here is my weekly update.

How your baby's growing:

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
I have been feeling baby quite often now. Lots of flutters and flippy flops. Nothing you can feel outside yet, which i can't wait for so Derek can feel. We go for our ultrasound on April 15!! So we should find out what we're having in about two weeks!! I am so excited!! Then we'll start on the nursery! Now if thi cold would go away! :)

SICK!!!

So Derek was nice enough to share his lovely cold with me. I feel like one big pile of horse manure! Being sick while pregnant is not fun! Not only do you have to worry about yourself, but you can't take anything to relieve it!!! All i can take is Tylenol and that doesn't really do anything. On top of the sniffling, stuffy nose, sore throat, sneezing, achy head, achy ears, i have vomiting and no appetite, plus Derek has gone off to Nebraska for work till tomorrow night. I had my doctor apt this last Thursday, and i felt fine. Then Friday at work i gradually was feeling crappier and crappier. It was full on sicky girl on Saturday!! So my phone has been on vibrate, calls going to voicemail because all i want to do is sleep! Right now i am eating some rice, bland foods seem ok, but i am still pretty nauseated and the Zofran isn't helping with this. So if it doesn't get better soon, I'll call my doctor. In the mean time....anyone wanna run to the store and get me more vegetable beef soup?

17 Weeks

How your baby's growing:Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

So I had a good weekend over the WCHA hockey weekend. Only had to take my Zofran on Friday, and felt pretty good all weekend. I started feeling the baby move more this weekend too. Little flutters and popcorn popping sensations in my lower tummy. It's pretty cool! It's weird to see my belly growing. I think i am going to start belly pictures this next week. Now that i'm actually showing.

I think i still have a ways to go for morning sickness. As good as i felt this past weekend, yesterday had me over the toilet again. So like Derek says, it's not going to happen over night. I have an appt on Thursday for my 7 week check up and then our next on we can find out what we're having...if baby cooperates! So i can't wait till April!!!

Cleaning the pipes

So yesterday water backed up in our utility room; came up the the floor drain and soaked everything on the floor. So we call Roto Router to come out. No biggie, we have to clean it once a year. Well, our no biggie just turned into a 9 foot deep hole in the front yard and a $3,000 bill. We have a water main break 48 feet out from the house!! So friday morning the crew comes out to work on it and we're heading to the WCHA final five! This makes me very proud that we have no debt and while this does suck, we were prepared with a padded savings! As long as we don't have to fix the road outside the house...if it goes under the road, we have to pay, not the city. Unless there is a problem with their line, we would have to pay for ripping up and repairing the road. Yuck!! That is one thing i am hoping DOESN'T happen!!!
On a good note, my morning sickness has seemed to subside to just morning sickness now. I feel pretty good at night. But i hve had my body play this little trick before, so i won't get my hopes up too much!

***CORRECTION:This was our sewer main from the house, NOT the water main. Nothing's backing up so far, but better to fix it quick before it does happen!!

Week 16

How your baby's growing:
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

15 Weeks

How your baby's growing:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

March of Dimes

It's that time of year again where we walk in honor of my dear friend Carey Beattie. This was her favorite charity, so we are walking in honor of her memory. Some of us have added reasons to walk. Me i now walk to remember Carey and for my friend Tonya's little one Allyson who was born at 24 weeks. She was a fighter and continues to thrive. So if you could please help in anyway in making my gol. This year since i am pregnant, i will be walking the short route. I don't think i should be pushing it too hard...But looking at the website, looks like they only have a short route this year...so 4 miles it is!

Here are the details of this years walk:

It's April 26th, at Parade stadium startng at 11am. We walk through the Lowry Hill area back to Parade stadium. It's a fun time with my girlfriends!

Please help my donations, just click on the March of Dimes widget on the right hand side of the blog to donate.
Thank you!!
